hi

i was thinking of young muslim men in this country ( not all of course)

they feel wrong for not following their faith stringently

and others prey on this frailty and make them feel guilt

the guilt then can result in violence towards others

its an idea that i am working on - a general one - i might write and explain further another time

i have been just stuck in the whirlwind of life

sometimes you feel on top of the world and then a simple act or comment from another shatters your nerve

and you begin to wonder - what is right for me?

how can i acheive freedom without causing others pain

how can i live

how do i want to be in the future?

so i have been thinking and tossing my heart about

hurting my brain and soul in the process and scaring my loved ones

but today the feeling is that the storm in my head and my heart is subsiding

so thats good news!

I really share your concern regarding the muslim issues and the chasm between muslims and other religio-cultural socities.
The conditions are no good anywhere. There are clashes and violence and conspiracy and bigotry that needs to be checked.
But there has to be PEACE AT LAST.

Rather than try to find the reasons there is a mad rush to destroy and continue to remain ignorant. Our 'great' leaders haven't even bothered to try and find the real reason and offer help where help is needed.

The major problem seems to be to get the community to the school and become aware of the needs. Then to put their shoulders to the wheel and get things done!

One suggestion - Lots of people seem to be only interested in themselves! OK that is the first move to make. Get community activities going at school, maybe starting with something like playing cards or maybe musical or other entertainment evenings.

Once you have people there they will begin to see 'things' for themselves and chats can quickly lead to worthwhile things being done!

The main thing is NOT to be too hopeful in the beginning and NEVER PUSH! Just a handful of people in the beginning will be a great start - I have a feeling that at present there is a very large useless vacuum surrounding your obvious neeeds!

At this time of year SAD (Seasonal Adjusted Disorder) cuts in. Where the daylight hours are less than the night. We leave for work in the dark and return the same. We then spend the day under artificial lighting.
Best thing is a sun lamp or artificial daylight bulbs.

Good thinking Pumpkin.

Not only English literature but Islam literature too should be mandatory in the school system.

History which involves the study of cultures and social organisations should be compulsory to try to bring about a measure of racial tolerance.

However, children are first and foremost moulded by their parents. Next comes pressure from their peers. School lessons come well down in the realm of influence.

i think the cast are the reason for harry's success

i cant be bothered to read the rest of the books - we have read only 2!

i told my children they will have to read the rest themselves

i dont feel the books are that good

it is a money making industry - harry potter is a hollow fake idea based on previous works by other truly great writers, novels like tolkien, c s lewis, the arabian nights and so on

well thats how i feel - but i love the cast - they have brought the characters to life

The characters,cast and audience growing up together has helped the Harry Potter cause. But newish readers starting Book 1 will either have to pace them selves to reading one each year of wait till teenage and read them all.

last night i felt something slightly new

my children are no longer babies but still under 10

and i felt such joy just taking in the warmth of my growing family

maybe it is pride- love- just motherhood - it is an awsome feeling!

i feel it more and more

and yeah dawn it is scary being muslim in this climate but i see this period also as a wakeup call
muslims have in general been in a slumber or just not strong enough to speak up and really think about our world

the madness is making us weak but also gives us strength .............................................................................................................................................i will pick up my thoughts later as i really must mop up the milk i spilt! in the morning dash to school!

Those people who embrace violence in the name of Islam are far away from its essence and do nothing but harm for the religion. Personally I would not like to be Muslim, male or female in the current world climate.

Pumpkin I left it too late to have children myself, putting my career and world travel first, so am a bit wistful reading your post.

this might sound silly

but sometimes i just sit and watch them

they might be playing or watching yu gi oh (which is a rubbish cartoon they are obsessed with!)

doing whatever - but i just marvel at their beauty - that they are kids

the best time in the world - being a child

it seems like yesterday i was one and here i am a mother myself - its so weird and just right

its like ive got these little pals - who share my life - the laughter and the woes - its a great love

now they are becoming assertive and challenging (they are not teens!) and that is daunting but actually also fun

anyway im going to stop because i really must hoover!

yes hoover! i hate this bit though!
